Well, being df'd you can guess. But interestingly, about a year ago (before I really started questioning things) I had a real heart to heart discussion with two elders. They were very kind, one in particular. A few days later I saw him at a local venue with his wife and he looked at me a smiled really big, but then I think he must have remembered who I was so he averted his eyes and kind of turned away. I was thinking how utterly disfellowshipping goes against human nature as we are meant to be social creatures. Idk. I just never forgot the sudden change in his face...

About what one thing do you find yourself being a real SNOB?
by Terry inyou know, to fit in....to be a part of our own family or group and not be a total nerd or contrarian.. we hold our tongue.
we smile and nod.. but, then....there is at least one thing we just can't go along with because it is too important.. why?
because we are a total snob.

I should mention that in being snobby about clothing and shoes one does not have to spend a great deal of money. Thrift stores, eBay, and other places are Awsome! Part of the fun is the find. I never spend more than $25-30 on an outfit. That's why I find it awful that others don't put forth any effort to wear nicer things. A well made Italian shoe is heaven. A shame to miss out on that experience. Or a good fitting, well cut garment.

Clothing/Shoes. I have tried so hard not to be, but I'm a snob when it comes to that. I've thought about it. I don't know why I feel superior to those who dress cheaply, but I do. I can't stand cheapness when it comes to fashion. I judge. I don't want to, but I do. I'm being honest. It drives me nuts.
Poetry, too. But I believe you said "one thing".

Lester Kite Who Was Humiliated,Character Tarnished, States During A Secret JC Hearing, Rude Watchtower Elders Mercilessly Insulted His Wife
by Scott77 in"...the secret hearings took place over two weekends in the latter part of 1992 and the committee consisted of the chairman, geoff woodfield (a family friend and a generally decent man); rensford ming (a quiet guy of jamaican origin, also a decent man); and dave churchill and stan rogers, both company men who humiliated me and assassinated my character.
they both were downright rude and insulting to my wife.
all elders, with the exception of woodfield were appointed from neighboring congregations.

Some elders have been kind to me in JC meetings, and some have been very rude. At one of my last meetings, I finally had enough of being compared to King David and his adultery and the mercy Jehovah showed King David by not killing him as he should have been under Jewish law. I asked them to please stop comparing me to a man that God chose and annointed to rule his people on earth. And I told them that of course King David hadn't been put to death because Soloman hadn't been conceived yet, and King David needed to be alive for that to happen for the sake of Jesus' bloodline. After that, there really wasn't much left to say there.
But by far the worse thing ever done to me at a JC meeting was when the elders were done talking to me, they called my then husband in and the four of them had a pow-wow. On the way home, I asked my husband what they were talking about back there. He said he was told not to tell me. We're divorced now.

Loyalty Questions in Judicial Hearings
by 00DAD ini've seen several posts on various threads about a particular "loyalty question" or two that elders ask during judicial hearings.
granted it's been several years since i was an elder, but i never heard of this practice.
is there anything officially in print on this from the wt?

But when they ask me if I still considered myself a Jehovah's Witness, I said no. I ask them how I could be a Jehovah's Witness when I had been 'inactive' for several years. Maybe I misunderstood the question. But they didn't obviously feel like my answer was enough to DF me. Instead, like I said, they said the matter would be "shelved". I've had two JC meetings since then and I do not recall being asked that. The last two JC meetings were at another hall, though.

Need some help!!!!! ***URGENT***
by sinis inmy wifes mother recently passed away, and it has devastated my wife.
the family, who are not witnesses, but out of respect for the deceased, and who was a jw, had the ceremony at the kingdum hell, which almost made me throw up... last time i ever step foot in that place.
i felt like a vampire on the threshold of a church, as i looked into the interior hall feeling my skin burn and start to smoke... anyways, as i have posted on here before a friend of my wife, has in the past, sent her (my wife) emails about going back to the kingdumb hell.

This is obviously a very emotional time for your wife. Do you think maybe she will back off from meetings and her JW friend again once her emotions and her grief subside? Too much to hope for? Also, maybe you should let your wife know that you emailed her friend before your wife finds out another way. Just a thought. Good luck!

Let's see...Spring of 2007, I think. I remember it so clearly because the question came out of left field. The question honestly took me by surprise. When I did say no, the JC said they were jut going to "shelf" the matter of my adultery that I readily admitted to. In The Spring of 2011, I don't recall being asked that question when, once again, I had a JC. But it was a different congregation, too. Btw, after about 6 months of have the matter "shelved", I changed khs and was promptly df'd. I was pissed because I could've already had six month of being df'd behind me. I appealed the decision on disfellowshipping when I moved to the new hall to no avail. I was told I didn't 'understand the question properly" at that time.
I'm a little drunk right now, so if I'm not making sense, just pm me. I'll check it later tonight. I gotta get ready for the meeting tonight, hence the drunk part. Wish me luck.

I was also asked if I still considered myself a Jehovah's Witness in my JC meeting. That's the only thing I can remember having to do with loyalty. Of course, I said no because I was thinking I wasn't, having not been out in service for years and years. I found the question confusing at the time, I must admit.

Do the cognitive behavior therapy. It's not a quick answer and it's not always easy, but it will help you greatly. I don't have all the answers. No therapy can do that. But my life has been changed greatly by it. Much freedom is gained when a person opens their mind and agrees to try to see certain things in new ways. Good luck, sweetie!
